* 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 2 1/2  pounds chuck roast in 1 inch cubes Stew Recipe
* 3 teaspoons salt
* 1 bay leaf
* 1/4 teaspoon thyme
* 4 cups water
* 8 medium carrots
* 2 large white onions in 1 inch cubes
* 1/4 cup cornstarch


How to Make Stew Recipe:

Begin this process by taking a large frying pan and place your oil in it. Then brown your beef until there is no red that remains. When that is done, add in your thyme, salt, bay leaf and 3 1/2 cups of water. You will turn your heat down to a simmer and allow it to simmer for a couple of hours.

During this time, you are going to want to add in water as needed. You can of course allow it to simmer longer as this will help to make the meat a bit more tender. When you reach the point that you are going to serve it, add in your carrots and onions and allow them to cook for at least 40 minutes. In the final 5 minutes, you will want to return your mixture to a boil and add in a little more water and add in your corn starch, stirring this mixture until there are no more clumps left. Keep in mind that the beef can be replaced with chicken if you would prefer to use a leaner cut of meat in your meal.
